just wondering.moving house, repossession,?

house repossession

We’ve seen a gorgeous house that we would like to buy, and viewed it today. It was repossessed from the previous owners and i get the impression they were in ALOT of debt, while we were viewing the house debt collectors showed up!!
If we did buy the house is there someone we can contact to let these companies know these people have moved??
I really don’t like the idea of debt collectors or even bailiffs coming to my door over some one else’s debt, when its just me and my young baby home… :/
its worrying me enough to actually be a bit put off the house..
any advice welcome!!

dnt worry about it

as long as you have some photo ID to prove who you are then they cnt take your stuff.

also get some proof of your moving in date from a mortage company or something and council tax letters aswell!! with your name on it

Been here & bought the tshirt! I am pretty sure bailiffs have to notify you before they come round, usually they will send a letter to the person that lived there before you.Open it and phone the number, and tell them these people have moved out.

From experience I think you would be wise to get your landline number changed because once it is reactivated debt companies have a habit of calling, and some more than once. But if you don’t want to change your number quite bluntly tell them if they don’t stop calling you will phone the police. That works really well :-)

It sounds scarier than it is to be honest. At the end of the day, they have no rights whatsoever. They can’t enter your house and they can’t theaten you. Simple as that.

The people that lived in the house before me didn’t own it, they were just renting. So I don’t know if the debt collectors will be aware when the house has been repossessed , in which case they shouldn’t bother you anyway.

Don’t worry about it!!! You haven’t done anything wrong afterall!
